The cost of a cutting mat in a suitable size is astronomical. I d like to cover a table and use it for a cutting table in my sewing room. I ve been storing my self healing cutting mat in three trash bags with a large board on top and placed under a bed to keep the fumes under control and i thought it was an effective solution. Does anyone know if this type of material can be used for a cutting mat.

I was thinking i could cut large pieces from bulletin board paper on it. The other day one of my students asked me what a self healing cutting mat is made of. Any surface other than a self healing mat will dull the blade on the first cut. A 24x36 is plenty.

The green black mats are reversible with grid markings on each side. I have done a search and only found the mysterious phrase made of a unique self healing composite material. I was looking at the 020 x24 x48 to use with my 24 cutter. However i took it out briefly for cutting twice in two days and now i feel sick again.

Seems like a good price if it can be used after making it sticky.
